Sello Arthur Mafokate, professionally known as Arthur Mafokate, is a South African singer, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and television personality widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Kwaito music. He played a significant role in shaping South Africa’s urban music culture during the 1990s. Growing up in a family that appreciated sports and entertainment, he developed an interest in music, dance, and performance from a young age.
Before becoming a solo artist, Arthur worked as a dancer, sound engineer, and performer with several music groups. His breakthrough came with songs such as "Amagents Ayaphanda," "Kaffir," and "Oyi Oyi," which helped popularize Kwaito across South Africa. He later founded 999 Music, a record label that supported and developed numerous artists.
Throughout his career, Arthur has received several awards and honors for his contributions to music. Today, he remains one of the most influential figures in South African popular culture and entertainment.
