Jaliba Kuyateh, recognized globally as the King of Kora, is a renowned Gambian musician who grew up in a family of musicians and learned to play the kora at a young age. Despite pursuing a career in education for several years, his passion for music never waned. Kuyateh launched his musical career by performing at local events, quickly gaining a devoted following for his exceptional blend of traditional kora rhythms with contemporary pop music known as Kora pop.. In addition to his music career, Kuyateh is also a cultural ambassador for Gambia. He has been recognized with numerous awards for his contributions to music and cultural preservation. Kuyateh remains one of the greatest kora players of all time and a beloved music icon in Gambia.
