Rising to fame in the 1960s with African Fiesta National, he toured extensively. Lokassa played a key role in the influential African All-Stars and later moved to Paris, becoming a renowned session guitarist. Not content with that, he founded the iconic Soukous Stars, featuring talented musicians like Ballou Canta and Dally Kimoko. Their groundbreaking album "Megamix Vol. 1" became a soukous sensation, reshaping the genre with Lokassa's fusion of Congolese melodies and Afro-Cuban influences. Lokassa Ya Mbongo's contributions to the music industry earned him widespread recognition and a dedicated fan base across Africa and beyond.
