BioMargaret Semakula was a beloved Ugandan educator, chorister, and community leader whose life reflected a deep commitment to faith, learning, and service. An alumna of Gayaza Junior and Gayaza High School, she went on to teach English, admired for her eloquence, writing, and speech skills. She later became Headteacher of Gayaza Junior School and Librarian at Gayaza High School, playing a key role in the growth of the Mehta Library after its 1962 opening.
Beyond the classroom, Margaret was a longtime soprano singer in the Eschatos Bride (Abagole ba Yesu) Choir under Dr. Abbey S. Kibalama. Her musical journey included close collaborations with the Gayaza High School Choir and the Gayaza Singers. Remembered for her discipline, warmth, and admirable spirit, she passed away in 2017 at age 86 after battling throat cancer. Her legacy lives on in the Gayaza and Eschatos Bride communities.
