Paul Menéndez, better known as Pablo “Mezcla” Menéndez, brings decades of musical depth to the Cuban soundscape. Born in Oakland, California, in 1952, he relocated to Cuba in 1966, a move that shaped his creative life. Over the years, he carved a unique path as a guitarist and composer, fusing North American roots with Afro-Cuban rhythms.
In 1985, Menéndez founded the band Mezcla, a pioneering force in the fusion of salsa, jazz, rock, and traditional Cuban music. Under his direction, Mezcla became known for its bold improvisations, political edge, and collaborative spirit, performing with both established and emerging voices in Latin music.
