A major presence behind Afrikaans pop success stories, Niel Schoombee built a career spanning songwriting, artist development, production, and live entertainment management. Early work in Disneyland’s entertainment division in California strengthened his interest in stage production and live performance, later leading him fully into the South African music industry.
In 2003, he co-founded Hi-5, one of the most visible Afrikaans vocal groups of the 2000s. The group gained recognition after winning the ATKV Crescendo competition and later toured across South Africa and Europe with releases including "Soebat," "Hi-5," and "Versoeking."
Beyond performing, Schoombee became closely linked to artist development through Select Music, contributing to hundreds of songs and projects for Afrikaans performers, including Romanz, Nianell, and Elizma Theron. He is also involved in the conceptual development of the annual KRONE concert.
His contributions earned him Songwriter of the Year recognition in 2019 while he continued involvement in entertainment production and creative ventures internationally.
