If a drum could speak, it would first tell the story of Nyanyo Daniel Addo, a master percussionist from the Ga community in Labadi, Greater Accra, Ghana. Raised by his grandfather, a respected Won priest, he learned traditional drumming for healing, spiritual ceremonies, and community communication. Immersed in the rich drumming traditions of the Ga people, Addo mastered instruments including the Oblente, Atumpani, Gome, Odono, Blekete, and Ballaphone, embodying the drummer’s role as historian and spiritual guide.
He has toured West Africa with legends like Fela Kuti and Mutabaruka and performed across Europe, including the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Embracing modernity, he collaborated with DJ Ted Bowes, blending traditional percussion with electronic music. His solo albums, "He's In Trance Now" and "The Tranceformer," feature tracks such as "Wo Ba Wo Ba Shue," "Kpanlogo," "African Cream," and "Morning Sun," showcasing his skill in merging cultural heritage with trance and world music influences.
