Phelo Bala is a South African singer, songwriter, and television personality whose work spans gospel, Afro-soul, and contemporary African music. Born in KwaNobuhle, Eastern Cape, he grew up in a family with a strong musical heritage and refined his vocal skills at the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School.
He first rose to prominence as a member of The Bala Brothers, the vocal trio he formed with his brothers Zwai and Loyiso Bala. The group released notable projects including "B3" (2006), "Live at Emperors Palace" (2013), and "Bala Brothers (Live)" (2015).
In 2011, Bala joined the celebrated gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration, broadening his reach within South Africa’s music industry.
He debuted as a solo artist with "Phelo" in 2015 and followed it with "Ndim’Lo" in 2017, an album that highlighted his artistic growth. Alongside his music career, he has established a presence in television and entertainment, remaining an influential figure in South African culture.
