Corey Woods, professionally known as Raekwon, is a New York rapper whose career became closely intertwined with Wu-Tang Clan during the group’s formative years. Emerging from Staten Island, he contributed to the collective’s breakthrough album, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)," and developed a distinctive writing style built around street detail, character-driven narratives, coded language, and sharp imagery.
His solo career took a major step forward with "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...," released in 1995. Created largely with RZA and featuring substantial contributions from Ghostface Killah, the album placed Raekwon’s Lex Diamonds persona inside an elaborate world of crime-film references and New York street storytelling.
Raekwon later released "Immobilarity," "The Lex Diamond Story," "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II," "Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang," "Fly International Luxurious Art," and "The Wild." In 2025, he added "The Emperor’s New Clothes," extending his catalog and collaborations into another generation of hip-hop.
