BioOriginally known as "Captain Stu and the Llamas" but shortened to fit promotional materials, Captain Stu was a South African quintet band whose music was a unique blend of ska, funk, and reggae with a pop twist. The quintet's initial line-up was James Klopper, Ryan McArthur, Matt Willis, Jon Shaban, and Ryk Otto. The band aimed to have fun and ensure their audience enjoyed the music. Captain Stu's songs are catchy, fun, and guaranteed to put a smile on their listener's faces. The band was formed in 2002 and has changed members. In 2004, they began gigging as a 7-piece band and quickly gained a following throughout Cape Town. In July 2005, they released their first album, Untold Tales, which attracted over 1300 fans to their launch. Captain Stu performed at major festivals in South Africa and completed two tours around the country before disbanding in 2014.
