BioDe La Soul is an American hip-hop group formed by Posdnuos, Trugoy the Dove, and Pasemaster Mase. Emerging from Long Island, New York, the trio became one of the most influential forces in alternative hip-hop, jazz rap, conscious rap, and progressive rap. Their landmark debut album, “3 Feet High and Rising” (1989) transformed hip-hop through inventive production, layered sampling, and unconventional lyricism.
Throughout their career, De La Soul collaborated with artists including Q-Tip, Nas, Common, Killer Mike, Talib Kweli, Chuck D, and DJ Shadow. Their catalog includes releases such as “Cabin In The Sky,” “The Package,” “Remove 45,” and “Rocket Fuel.” In 2006, the group won a Grammy Award for “Feel Good Inc.” with Gorillaz, and in 2024 they received three Libera Awards. Following the death of Trugoy the Dove in 2023, Posdnuos and Pasemaster Mase have continued preserving and extending De La Soul’s influential legacy in contemporary hip-hop.
