BioSIX60 is a New Zealand band formed in Dunedin in 2008 by Matiu Walters, Chris Mac, Marlon Gerbes, Ji Fraser, and Eli Paewai while studying at the University of Otago. Blending pop, rock, reggae, soul, funk, and electronic music, the group became one of New Zealand’s most successful contemporary bands. Their breakthrough came with “Rise Up 2.0” and the debut album “SIX60,” which produced major hits including “Don’t Forget Your Roots,” “Forever,” and “Only to Be.”
The band continued its success with albums such as “SIX60” and “Castle St,” and songs including “White Lines,” “Special,” “Closer,” “Sundown,” and “Before You Leave.” SIX60 has received numerous Aotearoa Music Awards and achieved multiple No. 1 albums and multi-platinum singles in New Zealand. In 2021, they became the first New Zealand band to headline Eden Park, marking a major milestone in the country’s live-music history.
