Bio"Star Number One De Dakar" was a highly regarded Senegalese musical group in the 1970s. Formed after the disbanding of the renowned Star Band Group, the group gained fame for its fusion of Cuban, Wolof, and Mandinka music. All through their ten years of existence, they released at least nine albums and were considered rivals to Orchestra Baobab for the title of best band in Dakar. They were also the first Senegalese band to record in Paris and launch their own label.
