BioThe Frères Guissé, consisting of Djiby, Cheikh and Aliou, is a trio of two guitarists and a percussionist who have played a crucial role in Senegalese music for over two decades. They gained recognition with their debut local album, "Fama," in 1995. Hailing from the Fouta region of northern Senegal, the band primarily sings in Pular (Peulh), their mother tongue. Masters of subtle playing, their repertoire seamlessly blends Pulaar tradition with languages like Wolof and French, appealing to a diverse audience. The breakthrough at the African Market of Performing Arts (MASA) in 1997 propelled them to international tours and collaborations with renowned artists. Beyond their musical success, the Frères Guissé have made significant contributions to environmental advocacy through their music.
