Aslay, born Aslay Isihaka Nassoro, is a Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer-songwriter whose career has moved steadily from group recognition to solo prominence in the East African music scene. Performing under the single name Aslay, he has grown into one of Tanzania's recognizable voices in contemporary Bongo Flava, a genre rooted in Swahili-language pop and R&B traditions that commands a wide following across the region.
Aslay first gained widespread attention as the lead vocalist of Yamoto Band, a group he co-founded in 2013. The band built a loyal following through a run of successful releases and earned the Best Band award at the 2015 Tanzania Music Awards, a recognition that reflected the group's standing in the local industry. When Yamoto Band disbanded in 2017, Aslay transitioned into a solo career and has remained active ever since.
