Omawumi Boma Megbele-Yussuf proves voices arrive prepared. Born April 13, 1982, in Delta State, the Itsekiri singer, songwriter, and actress gained attention as runner-up on Idols West Africa in 2007. A law graduate of Ambrose Alli University, she practiced briefly before committing to music.
Raised in Warri by Chief Dr. Frank and Mrs. Aya Megbele, her artistry reflects discipline, depth, and cultural pride. Her 2008 debut single, "In The Music," introduced a career marked by strong vocals and a blend of soul, R&B, jazz, and Afropop. Albums including "Wonder Woman," "Lasso of Truth," "Timeless," "In Her Feelings," and "Love Deep High Life" cemented her acclaim.
