Chidi Benz, born Rashid Abdallah Mohamed Makwiro, is a Tanzanian hip hop and Bongo Flava artist also known as Chid Benz and King Kong. Raised in Dar es Salaam, he began writing lyrics early, refining his craft through freestyling at school competitions and community events. After completing O-level education, his mother encouraged his pursuit of music professionally. He gained public recognition on the Fiesta Annual Bongo Flava tour and entered the mainstream with his 2006 debut single "Unaniacha Hoi." He later founded the La Familia label and released his self-titled debut album "Chidi Benz" in 2007 through GMC Distributors, becoming one of Tanzania’s top-selling hip hop albums. His music blends Swahili lyricism with hip hop and regional influences. Other notable songs in his discography include "Chaguo Langu," DSM Stand Up," "Pompom Pishhaah," "Nalia," and "Kiboko Yao," with collaborations featuring Diamond Platnumz and Alikiba amongst others.
