Bio
Sha Sha, born Charmaine Shamiso Mapimbiro in Mutare, Zimbabwe, is an award-winning singer-songwriter widely celebrated as the "Queen of Amapiano". Her musical journey began in church choirs and through private piano lessons, though she initially considered a career in nursing before mentor Audius Mtawarira recognized her talent. Sha Sha’s career skyrocketed after a chance meeting with South African producer DJ Maphorisa, facilitated by her cab driver in Johannesburg. In 2019, she released her debut EP, Blossom, which featured the chart-topping single "Tender Love". In 2020, she made history as the first Zimbabwean musician to receive the BET Award for Best New International Act, marking a breakthrough moment for Zimbabwean representation on the global stage. Singing in multiple languages and fusing R&B sensibilities with house-driven rhythms, she expanded her artistic reach with the release of her debut studio album, I’m Alive, in 2022, reinforcing her growing international reputation.
