Paballo Basetsana Mothapo, professionally known as Pabi Cooper, is a South African Amapiano singer, songwriter, dancer, and entrepreneur from Soshanguve, Pretoria. She fuses music, dance, and football culture into an artistic identity unique to her.
Raised by her grandmother and aunt, Cooper developed a fearless work ethic early. A passionate soccer player and aspiring referee, she shifted to music during the COVID‑19 pandemic, starting with social media content creation and dance before recording her first studio track in 2021.
Her breakthrough came with the platinum-certified single “Isphithiphithi”, featuring Busta 929, Reece Madlisa, and Joocy. She followed with “Banyana Ke Bafana” and her debut EP Cooperville (2022), including tracks like “Waga Bietjie”.
Cooper has performed internationally, earned multiple awards, including the Basadi in Music Award, Amapiano Best Newcomer, a BET nomination, and was listed on Forbes 30 Under 30. Notably, she founded Cooper Entertainment and hosts the football-themed Cooper FC event.
