Featuring six tracks and collaborations with DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic, and Young Stunna, the project reinforces their signature style while expanding their reach. Mellow & Sleazy are a South African amapiano duo made up of Phemelo Sefanyetse (Mellow) from Ga-Rankuwa and Olebogeng Kwanaite (Sleazy) from Soshanguve. They met during their first year at varsity and bonded over production, blending amapiano with Pretoria’s Bacardi house to pioneer what became known as “Pitori amapiano.”
Their rise began in 2020, when they used lockdown to refine their sound, later catching the attention of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. Their national breakthrough came in 2021 with the Platinum-certified hit “Bopha”, followed by the viral “Nkao Tempela.” Other hits include Chipi ke Chipi, 10111, Abo Mvelo, Sjepa, and Imnandi Lento.
Their projects include Kwa-Kwa (2021) and Midnight in Sunnyside series, with Midnight in Sunnyside 3 earning a SAMA nomination. They won Best Group (South Africa) at the Urban Music Awards 2024 and secured Metro FM and additional SAMA nominations, cementing their influence.
