BioThe Bala Brothers are siblings Zwai Bala, Loyiso Bala, and Phelo Bala, known for classical training with opera, gospel, pop, and Afro-soul. Raised in KwaNobuhle, Eastern Cape, they were immersed in church music and family choral traditions. All three attended the Drakensberg Boys Choir School, honing their classical-crossover skills.
Before forming the trio, each built an individual career: Zwai rose to fame with the Kwaito group TKZee, Loyiso became a gospel and R&B artist, and Phelo performed with the gospel esemble Joyous Celebration.
In 2023, they launched the reality series "The Bala Family."
Formed in 2006, the trio’s debut "B3" (Sony BMG) earned critical acclaim and a South African Music Awards. Later works include "Live at Emperors Palace" (2013) and "Bala Brothers (Live)" (2015), showcasing orchestral performances and rich harmonies.
They have performed at national events, including Nelson Mandela’s memorial, and their music emphasizes unity, African heritage, and cross-genre versatility.
